Narrows Strut Busters - WITO
|
|
Welcome
to Narrows Strut Busters - A Washington Chapter of the NWTF |
Learning
new skills, meeting people with similar interests and kicking back
in the great outdoors is what the NWTF's Women in the Outdoors
(WITO) program is all about. Today millions of women across the
country are discovering that camping, hiking, fishing, hunting,
shooting, canoeing, boating and bird watching are fun and relaxing.
And the number of women involved in these outdoor activities is
growing. You can learn these skills at one of the events offered by
the Women in the Outdoors program, which are being held throughout
the United States. The NWTF's state and local chapters offer one-day
events that are low cost, will fit into your busy schedule and are
hosted at some of the most beautiful outdoor education sites in the
country. The combination of sponsorship and local chapter support
make it possible for the NWTF to offer its educational programs at
low cost to participants. With your paid registration for a Women in
the Outdoors event, you will become a member of the NWTF and receive
four issues of the program's own entertaining and informative
magazine, Women In The Outdoors.
The "Narrows Strut Buster’s" currently
support the "regional" Women in the Outdoors" (WITO)
Event hosted by the South Sound Longbeards at the Fort Lewis
Recreation Center and at American Lake. Open to all ladies 14 and
older, you may select four out of the nine professionally taught
courses (fly fishing, archery, Dutch oven cooking, kayaking, gold
panning, landscaping for wildlife, orienteering (map & compass),
shotgun safety/usage, and handgun safety/usage). All
equipment is provided. A Saturday evening raffle and
silent auction with great prizes is available. Includes a
catered buffet lunch, hat, and membership in WITO with
four issues of the WITO magazine. Visit TacomaNWTF.org
for an application form and/or more information (this event is
usually held on a mid-July Saturday).
Future chapter WITO events will be dependent on expressed
interest and may include a choice of archery, ATV safety,
birdwatching, boating, camping, canoeing, deer hunting, fishing,
handgun basics, habitat improvement, hiking, kayaking, mountain
biking, plant identification, primitive cooking, orienteering, rifle
safety, scuba diving, shotgunning, stream ecology, or turkey
hunting.
